We are coming back to life in a slightly different guise at an exciting new venue.

We are now the Ipswich Jazz and Blues and our new home is Venue 16 (formerly Greshams) on the edge of town. We can't think of a better place to begin the next chapter and at the end of August we're celebrating our forthcoming reopening with a free afternoon gig starring Nat Augustin.

Nat has been a leading light on the UK music since the days he was part of the soul and funk outfit Light Of The World. In more recent times Nat has been extremely busy doing his George Benson show. Close your eyes and you could be listening to George 'Bad' Benson himself.

You are cordially invite to join us on Sunday, August 29 when our programme for the rest of the year will be unveiled. The venue's owner Jamie Lee Smith and his amazing staff serve wonderful Sunday lunches so why not enjoy a meal there before or during Nat's performance which weather permitting will be outside on the terrace between 2.30pm and 5pm. That's also going to be the new running time for regular IJandB gigs which will be staged inside Venue 16 in the Willow Suite, a spacious function room managed by Jon Parker.

We're also switching to the second Sunday of every month and another new feature will be the introduction of a local support act for all our shows. To hopefully whet your appetite, we can reveal the grand reopening is on Sunday, September 12 when jazz great Alan Barnes and his all-star group get the new era off to a flying start. Support comes from a trio assembled by popular Ipswich guitarist John Parker who does such impressive work every third Sunday at the Briarbank's jazz sessions.

We feel sure the new look Ipswich Jazz And Blues at Venue 16 will carry on where the IJB left off in early 2020. The world has changed for all of us and we think now is a very good time to revamp what we're offering. We remain a not-for-profit club and really appreciate the help and kindness of Jamie and all his staff at Venue 16.

Check out the website at www.ipswichjazzandblues.uk and do come and join us on the last Sunday afternoon of August for our launch event starring Nat Augustin. Meanwhile if you're involved in a local jazz or blues combo and you fancy opening one of our afternoon sessions then do get in touch with our newly appointed chairman Stephen Foster via his email address which is StephenFoz@icloud.com.
